,Columbia, as one would assume, has the best reputation of the lot. For those with top drawer stats, merit awards abound. All great schools and had Fordham had engineering and med school it would have ranked on par with NYU i'm certain about that.

Yes, look at it logically and monetarily, but please don't discount your gut feel. Law is often a rankings game, and Fordham comes in at #37 whereas Cardozo is #74. But, the fact that it does not have a medical school anymore, nor nursing program, engineering programs are the reason why it ranks lower than NYU for example in my opinion. The older one got into every medical school she applied to, and decided to go to Emory on a Woodruff scholarship that paid all tuition.

Columbia is a reach for everyone and it does look impressive to have it on your resume. Fordham Graduate School has more expensive graduate school tuition of $35,289 than Gallaudet Graduate School ($18,166). Either the person feels that it's a really great school (the "dream school" reputation) or the person has little respect for "a school made up of a bunch of scattered buildings that puts people into massive debt for an overrated education."
